- Program location: Estepona, Spain
or Aix-en-Provence, France - 2010 dates: July 1st – August 15th
- Ages: 16 – 21 years
- Language prerequisite: Three years of Spanish or French by June 2010*
*Exceptions considered with teacher recommendation
A Total Immersion Host Family Experience
No classes, no group. Individualized and customized to each participant's timeframe. Experiential learning in its truest form! Students live one-on-one with families with the goal of becoming entirely immersed in the culture. Their focus is to speak and learn entirely in the target language with their individual host families.
The Spanish and French families we choose for these total immersion experiences are committed to involving and including our students in their daily lives for the duration.
ECI custom-designed the CTI Program for high school and college-aged students who:
- Are at least 16 years old.
- Have completed a minimum of three years of Spanish or French by June 2010.
(Two years of middle school language is generally equivalent to one year of high school language.) - Are motivated, adventurous, and have an independent nature.
- Are serious about speaking only Spanish while in Spain or French while in France.
- Are committed to the belief that total immersion is the most effective way of developing foreign language proficiency.
My daughter spent time in France this Summer on a “total immersion” program. I couldn’t have wished for a better experience for her: the host family treated her as their own, organizing excursions and experiences... Most importantly, no one spoke English to her the whole time ensuring that she returned much more confident in her abilities in the spoken language. A first class experience.
