Heredia, Monteverde & Flamingo Beach – Your Three Study Locations
The typical Costa Rican pueblo of San Joaquin de Flores in the province of Heredia; the quaint mountain village of Santa Elena, often referred to as Monteverde because of the nearby reserve by the same name; and the beachside town of Flamingo.
San Joaquin de Flores, Heredia - A university town on the outskirts of Costa Rica’s central valley and about twenty minutes from San José, the capital of Costa Rica. It is accessible to the culture of a major city while at the same time offers the safety of a small town. An ideal Spanish immersion location. Map.
Monteverde - Aptly translated “Green Mountain,” an ecologically-rich mountain village and wildlife reserve, famous for its biodiversity & beauty. It is home to the amazing Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, a world-renowned refuge for hundreds of species of mammals, birds & plant life. Your second study abroad destination. Map.
Flamingo Beach - Considered one of the most picturesque beaches in Costa Rica & the backdrop for the third week of this summer study trip for teens. Despite its name, the apparent result of some ill-informed North American settlers who mistook the bright pink roseate spoonbill for a flamingo, there isn’t a flamingo in sight! Map.
Our program of Spanish language classes takes place in the three diverse locations listed above and is administered by The Centro Panamericano de Idiomas (CPI). Our directors personally selected highly-regarded CPI as our school for this Spanish immersion adventure.
I liked how our classes were small and focused more on speaking than grammar.
Miranda W. (Expedition Costa Rica Student)
This special trip is limited to thirty students with at least three full-time leaders, one of whom is a bilingual naturalist guide. This is an ideal ratio in terms of student bonding, personal attention & safety – always our number one priority.
